Characters working on a weapon with a Complex Frame receive a +2 target modifier to all Build/Repair Tests." "Fragile Construction","This design option makes the weapon more prone to misalignment and damage if treated roughly. The character must make a Malfunction Test at the end of every Combat Turn the weapon is carried and used as a combat weapon. Add +1 to the Malfunction Number for every Test made. If the character stops and makes a Repair Minor Stress Test to re-align the weapon, the 'Malfunction Counter' goes back down to 0. If the weapon has no Stress from it's rough handling, the target number is 2. Otherwise, make the test as normal." "Lemon","A Lemon is a poorly built and shoddily designed weapon that costs more to maintain than its worth. Double the daily maintenance requirements for the weapon, and subtract 1 from the Reliability." "Mass Production","The weapon is currently being mass produced by at least one large corporation, and is therefore more readily available on the street. For each level of Mass Production, reduce the Mark-Up by 1. The maximum level for Mass Production is 3, although many classes have lower limits." "Master Workmanship","A weapon with master workmanship is produced with loving attention to detail and craftsmanship. Because every part of the weapon is expertly crafted and assembled, the vehicle runs better and suffers less damage from normal wear and tear, and so has a much maintenance costs than a comparable weapon of its type and price range. For every level of Master Workmanship, reduce the weapon's Maintenance cost by 10 percent (multiply the cost by .9)." "Prototype Model","A Prototype Model weapon is an experimental design built for evaluation and debugging. As such, it has a number of hidden surprises that won't be discovered until the weapon is put through its paces. A Prototype Model starts out with 1d6 hidden Stress Points. These Stress Points are not revealed until Stress comes into play (either by pushing the limits of the vehicle or botching a Success Test under the Stress Rule of One). Gamemasters may reveal all of these hidden Stress Points at the first opportunity or dole them out over the course of an adventure or campaign. Once revealed, these Stress Points are added to the weapon's Stress Point total and may be reduced normally." "Quality Factor 7","The weapon is much more reliable then most in its category. Each level of Reliability adds to the Reliability of the weapon, giving an extra die for and Malfunction Tests." "Quality Factor 8","Ruggedness indicates that the weapon is solidly built and can withstand an excessive amount of punishment from heavy use and abuse. For every level of Ruggedness, a weapon subtracts 1 from the Malfunction Number." "Quality Factor 9","A weapon with a streamlined Layout has a well-designed frame and accessory layout, which makes working on the weapon easier. Characters working on a weapon with Streamlined Layout receive a -1 target modifier to all Build/Repair Tests." "Quality Factor 10","The weapon is cheaply made, is mechanically complex, or has some other combination of quirks that makes the weapon unreliable, or even dangerous. Each level of Unreliability decreases the weapon's Reliability one level. Reliability may not fall below 1. May not be combined with Reliable." "Electric Ignition","Rates of fire are higher than those of normal gas-operated weapons, with a burst fire mode capable of firing 6 rounds instead of the usual 3. Built-in governors prevent full-auto fire. Batteries mounted in the frame of the weapon (normally in the pistol grip) provide power to the ignition system, and normally last for 100 firings. The battery can be removed like an ammunition clip and recharged in about 1 hour. The ammunition itself can only be stored in either a clip or a top-feed clip. Lack of moving parts causes near-silent operation, equivalent to that of a sound suppressor, but they cannot accept barrel mounts. An electric ignition system will increase the weapons Reliability rating by one level." "Custom 2","For various reasons the weapon may have its Power reduced. For every three levels of Reduced Power the weapon gets 1 point of recoil compensation. No weapon may have its Power reduced to below 2." "Custom 3","By using cheaper, but heavier, construction materials for the frame the overall weight of the weapon is increased. No weapon may increase its weight in this manner to over twice its normal base weight." "Custom 4","Weapons that are clip fed may be designed to utilize helical magazines. Helix magazines are long tubular magazines with the rounds held in spirals. This modification changes the weapon's ammo capacity to either 50 or 100 rounds. The weapon must be designed to allow for one size or the other. While a weapon designed for the large clip may use the small one, the reverse is not true. Helix clips take the Top mounting space on weapons. Because of their unique location helix clips provide one point of recoil reduction." "Custom 6","A normally shaped clip (often made of clear plastic) feeds the weapon from an assembly either along top of the frame. This allows the designer to make the weapon more streamlined, and also makes it easier for a user to keep track of his ammunition expenditure at a glance. " "Custom 7","This is a matte-black coating bonded to the metal portions of the frame. Anodized parts are resistant to corrosion and scratching. Generally not useful on weapons with more then 1 level of ceramic components." "Custom 8","Chrome plated weapons are very resistant to corrosion but are quite noticeable. All Stealth attempts with an chrome-plated weapon at the ready are at +3 to all target numbers. Many people may also remember the distinctive look of a shiny, chrome-plated weapon." "Custom 9","By using a custom teflon coating on the weapons frame and grip it can resist picking up fingerprints. A weapon with a printless finish adds +4 to the target numbers of any attempt to 'lift' prints from the weapon. This option is usually seen as a 'criminal' modification and is illegal in many nations (although it has remained semi-legal in the CAS and UCAS). At the very least being discovered with a printless weapon will get you harassed by Lone Star...or worse. Spotting a printless finish requires close inspection and Perception (8) or appropriate Firearms Background (6) Test. Otherwise it appears as a standard parkerized finish." "Custom 10","A thin diamond coating on the moving surfaces of a weapon make them very smooth and flat, and immune to corrosion and damage. As long as the weapon is cleaned regularly and well lubricated the gun will not jam due to a mechanical fault. Increase the Reliability of the weapon by 1 level." "Custom 11","A high-density bolt replaces the weapons standard bolt with a heavier version, so that it absorbs more of the recoil. This counts as one point of recoil reduction but reduces the maximum number of rounds per Combat Phase that can be fired on FA by 2." "Custom 12","This modification reduces the weight of the bolt, increasing rate of fire at the expense of recoil and control. Weapons with a lightweight bolt suffer a +1 recoil modifier. However, weapons firing on FA get an addition +2 to their rate of fire per Combat Phase. Weapons with lightweight bolts can also feed subsonic rounds without the usual Reliability decrease." "Custom 13","This system uses a code key sequence keyed to a specific smartgun processor. If it is not hooked the proper smartgun processor the weapon will refuse to fire. In addition it can also trigger an Active Defense system. The system requires an internal smartlink in the weapon." "Custom 14","These are a series of rails fixed onto the weapon, allowing sights and other combat accessories to be simply clipped on and off without having to keep recalibrating them. The size of the option that the rail can mount must be determined at purchase. Options may not be connected to an incorrectly sized mount. Any type of accessory can be fitted using this system, but they need a special adapter (increase cost of accessory by +10 DP). The accessory can then be attached or detached with a Complex Action without the need for any kind of B/R Test." "Custom 16","A replacement barrel shroud capable of fitting most standard assault rifles, the Rigid Frame Sleeve adds extra accuracy for almost any shot. Even minute pressure on a barrel can deflect a shot over a long range, the Rigid Frame Sleeve prevents this. After installation, nothing touches the barrel; not the hand, the sling or the bipod. It also provides mounting rails for quick disconnect accessories, and may be purchased with an integral laser. The system provides 1 point of recoil comp and can be used to reduce movement modifiers by one level when using telescopic sights (Sniping Rules, The Art of War). The integral laser is a high-power laser sight and does not take up a mounting point. The system itself takes up the barrel mounting point, but provides a Large mounting rail for under-barrel accessories." "Custom 17","" "Custom 18","" "Custom 19","" "Custom 20","Optical Mag 3 combined with thermographic circuits. Only one Free Action is needed to zoom from Mag 1 to Mag 3." "Custom 21","By cutting a few corners in the design process, a weapon can be made cheaper, at the cost of making it slightly bulkier." "Custom 22","By loading a smaller cartridge than normal for that particular frame, a weapon that can be designed that does less base damage than normal. So called 'varmit guns' are often designed with this option, for use in shooting small critters." "Custom 23","By loading a larger cartridge, the damage code of a rifle may be increased. Assault rifles with this modification are known as battle rifles; sniper rifles become anti-material rifles; sporitn rifles become elephant guns." "Custom 24","" "Custom 25",""
